BROTHERS - SHORT FILM (2023)
Logline: When a former combat medic meets the hostile brother of his fallen comrade, they realize the survivor's guilt they share is more profound than any differences that divide them.
"I Watched Friends Die in Afghanistan. The Guilt Has Nearly Killed Me." This is the title of an article in The New York Times that inspired the genesis of BROTHERS. The psychological condition of survivor's guilt has always been a source of intrigue to us and in our pursuit to further understand this complex and often overlooked condition, we felt compelled to write a story about two people wrestling with survivor's guilt and the different ways in which it can affect someone. We hope that BROTHERS will bring awareness to the very real and pervasive detriments that war has on the mental health of combat veterans, and that it would speak to anyone who may be suffering in silence.
INTRO
Hi! We're Amy and Elizabeth, twin sisters and filmmakers based in Los Angeles who are crowdfunding for our short film, BROTHERS. We’re super excited to get this project off the ground, but we’re going to need your support!
Filmmaking is a team effort — we by no means can do this ourselves. We’ve assembled an incredible cast and crew and would be so honored to have you participate in this creative and collaborative adventure with us.
Thanks so much for your time and support!
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to raise enough funds to be able to shoot this by early June, edit through the summer months, then have a completed film ready to be shared and submitted to festivals by October.
To execute this film at the level we’re hoping to achieve and make sure our cast and crew are equitably compensated, we need to raise $15,000! If you want to know exactly how your contributions will support us, below is how we anticipate allocating our budget.
25% - Locations
40% - Cast and crew
10% - Food
15% - Equipment Rentals
5% - Miscellaneous / Festival Submissions
5% - Music Licensing
